In 1916 the citizens of Wyong and of Tuggerah held tree planting ceremonies in their towns in honour of their men who were fighting in WW1. Trees were planted by family members and prominent citizens.

In 2016 the Wyong Family History Group held memorial ceremonies in each location exactly 100 years to the day that these avenues were planted but had unfortunately had made way for urban development. Plaques were unveiled by a family descendant of the the men who had served in the war. Federal, State Members of Parliament as well as the Mayor and RSL President attended the ceremonies delivering speeches acknowledging the men who served and their service to the country.
