1167 Sergeant William Stuart Kilpatrick, 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment
During Operations at Amman on the afternoon of March 27th 1918, No 1167 SSM Kilpatrick W. S. was commanding a troop supporting “C” Sqdn in its attack on some enemy trenches.
The enemy by counter attacking the 7th L. H. Regiment was able to occupy some sangers and bring enfilade fire on to “C” Sqdn.
SSM Kilpatrick without hesitation led his men forward under a murderous M. G. fire and assisted in the withdrawal of “C” Squadron and displayed great gallantry in carrying wounded out of action – for his gallantry and example I consider this NCO well worthy of reward.
1167 Sergeant William Stuart Kilpatrick was awarded a Military Medal for this action.
