Queensland Country Womens' Association's donation to Blackall Memorial Park
Country Women's Association's donation to the Blackall Memorial Park
In June 1927 the Blackall branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) donated
a Helidon sandstone seat made by Petrie Brothers.
The seat has a marble tablet dedicated to those who fought in the Great War.
The Blackall branch of the CWA also donated funds for the building of a rotunda
at the Blackall Cemetery as a place of rest for those who visited the cemetery
to pay respect to the deceased. In the early days people walked to the cemetery
which is located a little distance from the town.
Up until 1952 Returned Soldiers were buried in the general section of the cemetery (now referred to as the Old Section).
