This memorial is a plinth in centre Gatton erected by a Memorial Committee and funded by public subscription at a cost of a little over 500 pounds. It commemorates soldiers from Gatton and the district for WW1.

It is made of four pillars of white marble with a roof structure supporting the seated mother.

At the laying of the foundation stone on 22 April 1922 it was said to be an expression of sympathy with the Mothers of the Fallen Soldiers.

It bears the names of those who paid the supreme sacrifice in WW1 and subsequent wars.
