The Shire of Toombul War Memorial, funded by public donations, together with a war trophy German Krupp field gun, was unveiled on 12 November 1921 by the then Governor of Queensland, Matthew Nathan.

The area in Nundah Memorial Park where the Memorial is located was redesigned following the construction of the Nundah deviation tunnel in 2001-2002.

Since then additions to the Memorial site include the World War I Gallipoli Wall, the World War II and Milne Bay Memorial Wall, the relocation of the now fully restored field gun and the installation of Rosemary Remembrance Gardens.

The Nundah Northgate RSL Sub Branch holds commemoration services at the site each year on ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day and on the Sunday closest to the 25 August to commemorate the World War II Battle of Milne Bay
