In 207 the Nundah Northgate RSL Sub Branch undertook a project to build a World War II/Battle of Milne Bay Memorial wall.  The curved wall to the north side of the Toombul Shire Memorial was designed to complement the existing World War I Memorial wall.

The Battle of Milne Bay in 1942 was significant in that it was the first time that the Japanese Army had been defeated on land and was, in effect, a turning point for the Allies that three years later ended the war.

Plaques relating the the Battle of Milne Bay and all World War II Australian forces were installed on the wall.  A replica of the original memorial crafted from the stump of a coconut palm at Milne Bay is an integral component of this Memorial.

The Wall was dedicated at a Memorial Service on 16 September 2007 by Col C Hamilton, ADC.

Each year on the Sunday closest to the 25 August, the Nundah Northgate RSL Sub Branch holds a Memorial Services to commemorate and remember the Battle of Milne Bay
