The Memorial Gates were erected by ex-students of the Dean Primary School and residents, and unveiled by Inspector J. S. Bacon B.A., 27th January 1951.

            The memorial honours those who fought in the Great World Wars 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

            The Avenue of Honour runs along the road from the Ballan – Daylesford Road (C292) west to the Dean Primary School and commemorates:       

            - Albert N. Anderson

            - Howard W. Boustead

            - George Drury

            - Albert Dudridge

            - James J. Guthrie

            - Douglas G May

            - Richard H. Richards

            - William T Smith

            - John Stewart

           - William Thompson

            - Albert E. Yelland

            Although there is no indication of when the Avenue of Honour was planted, it is believed to have been in 1919.
