Parkdale War Memorial: Tribute to her fallen heroes 1914-1919.
The Parkdale Progress Association began discussions to construct a War Memorial in 1921.Various community events were held to raise funds. Motor cycle and Motor car races were held at Mentone Race Course. The memorial was to be in the form of a water fountain located on the cliff top at Parkdale opposite Parkers Rd.. On Anzac Day 1923, the monument was unveiled by Mr O R Snowball a local member of State Parliament. During the ceremony the names of the fallen were read out the names of the fallen followed by a minutes silence.
The Memorial lists the name of five Fallen Heroes: E Gladstone, H C Jones, J W Morse, C A Sanders, and W C Wigg.
