In September 2014 Dennis Ward and Ross McDonald decided to have a Remembrance Day Service at Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Park and Tower of Remembrance. It might seem odd that the structure built by the community has not been used for this purpose in twenty years, but the Eltham Shire that built it was renamed twenty years ago and internal structures changed and electorates changed. We pay honour and remembrance to the sacrifice of those that served King and country from the  Shire and the legacy of the  local community who rallied to express their gratitude with a memorial  Park  and Tower  that was dedicated by the Governor General in 1926  .

Since that time further momentum has built resulting in the formation of the Friends of Kangaroo Ground Memorial Park.  In 2019 a website was created (see link below) which captures the history of the Memorial Tower and details of the directional plaques.  Regular events are listed on the website as well as how to become a member of the group.  Please see the valuable resources listed on the site and consider joining us.
