On 21 June 2010, in the Australian Parliament, Statements of Condolences were made to the families who lost loved ones when the Montevideo Maru was sunk on 1 July 1942.
The condolences included these 133 commandos. Also, on 21 June 2010, three Australian commandos were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
