The War Memorial was officially opened at a Remembrance Day service on Tuesday, 6 November 2018.  This included the unveiling of the WW1 soldier statue. Guest speakers for the opening included Dr. John Hewson AM, Chair Northern Cemeteries and Mr Bill Hardman OAM, President Northern Beaches District Council: RSL NSW.  Proudly hosted in conjunction with the Forestville RSL sub-Branch.

The site includes a War Memorial Columbarium.  After careful community consultation we are able to provide a ceremonial environment to acknowledge our military heroes on appropriate days throughout the year. A unique element of our memorial is that for the first time we have a designated area of the cemetery reserved exclusively for returned servicemen and servicewomen.

This part of the memorial is a 70-position columbarium which is available to veterans and their spouses for the memorialisation of cremated remains.
