Good News Lutheran School Memorial Garden
Good News Lutheran School Good News Lutheran School is a small primary school that opened in 1984 within the centenary region of Brisbane.
We are a supportive organisation for our cohesive parent body and strive to preserve strong connections within our broader community. As such, Anzac Day and Remembrance Day are significant commemorations for our school.
We are very proud of our Remembrance Garden which is a space for commemoration for all who have served. It contains a plaque added in 2012 “In memory of those who gave their lives in defence of our country”.
To commemorate the centenary of the end of WWI, our Year 5 and 6 students undertook the project to enhance our commemorative space. A new plaque was added to our Remembrance Garden and 100 wooden poppies were added for a more permanent presence.
The new plaque was revealed by our Principal, Mr Adam Richardson, at the 2018 Remembrance Day ceremony led by our Year 5 students. It was attended by the school community and special guests, MP’s Jess Pugh and Milton Dick, RSL representatives, George Lefevre and Terry Stevens, and Private Aaron Reading.
The plaques are within the school garden and accessible by all. They provide a space for reflection and commemoration at all times of the year.
