Ernest Samuel Gordon Myers was born in Rye on the 26 / 10 /1890 he attended the Rye State School after leaving the school he worked in the area until he enlisted in the Army on the 13 /7 /1915 after training at Broadmeadows he sailed for the middle East where he was taken on strength at the 22nd Battalion at Tel-El-Kebir on the 18/1/1916.

On the 12/3/1916 he was transferred and thaken on strength 22nd Pioneer Company at Moascar he then proceeded to join the B.E.F. ex Alexandria 19/3/1916, he disembarked at Marseilles on the 26/3/1916.

He was wounded in the field with a shell penetrating wound he was taken to the 1st ANZAC  Medical Dressing Station where he died from his wounds on the 16/11/1916.

He was buried in Dartmoor Cemetery Becordel 1.5 miles SE from Albert on the 27/12/1916 where he sleeps eternally Lest We Forget.
