Why South Perth built a second war memorial

A War Memorial had been built in South Perth at the corner of Labouchere Road and Angelo Street in 1923, but the traffic noise and noise from the adjacent zoo became a problem. Another War Memorial was built in landscaped Memorial Gardens in the grounds of the Civic Centre in 1988. This was dedicated to all those who served Australia in conflicts, up to the Vietnam War.
