Mungar State School is a small but very proud school that has a long and successful history of providing quality education for primary school aged students. Our school opened in 1875 and continues to remain the hub of the township of Mungar with the majority of local community members attending our school for the entirety of their primary education.

Yerra State School nearby was opened 11 November 1912 and closed circa 31 December 1974. Whilst Mungar has no known Honour Board, they did take on the Yerra Honour board as their own and it proudly hangs in their foyer. One must realise that by today’s standards, the two schools are not far apart.

The honour board commemorates 18 who served in WWI.
