The previous Burrum Shire was divided into Divisions.  Division 5 was the area of Tinana, Bidwell, Owanyilla south of the Mary River. The Council in those days provided Honour Boards for each Division (if required).  The men listed on the Honour Board were mainly form the Tinana/Bidwell area.

As there was no Council Office in Tinana, the Maryborough Council Clerk offered to accommodate the Honour Board through the President (late Alan Brown).  The Councilor’s for Division 5 at that time were Cr George Hooper and Cr Bill Ball. This is the time the Honour Board was erected.

The Board represents 70 members who served from Division 5 during 1939-1945.
