Tinnanbar is a coastal fishing village from the 1920’s. Today it is also a small retirement township some 50 kilometers south of Maryborough.

The first Cairn was unveiled in 1988 by the locals as a tribute to the early pioneers.

The want for a local war memorial resulted in a second Cairn and flagpole being erected by the locals and unveiled in 2010. A Dawn Service has resulted every year since.
