The monument which stands 22ft high, is erected on a solid concrete foundation 11ft square and 3ft high. There are steps of freestone on the four sides and at each corner the blocks are of red ironite. The main base of the memorial proper is of trachyte, while the solid 4ft block is of polished trachyte. On the block are engraved the 31 names of fallen men, with an inscription below and above. The column is also of polished trachyte, capped with a red granite orb, the whole making a very imposing memorial.  Four bronze lamps adorn the corners surrounding the monument have been erected on the corners.

Before the monument was moved to the Town Park in 1994, on either side of the monument, on solid concrete blocks, were two trench guns, and behind was a field gun captured by the 35th battalion.
