The Renaissance style memorial is composed of Ross (Tasmania) freestone and marble with a coping band around the base of Malmsbury (Victoria) bluestone.

At the top of the Memorial is a marble figure of "Australia”. “Australia" holds a wreath of immortelles in her right hand and a shield bearing the Tasmanian arms in the left.

The octagonal base bears the figures of four Australian soldiers - an officer, a sergeant, a bugler, and a private.
