World War II Aircraft Tragedy
Cairns Regional CouncilOn 5th March 1945, a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Lockheed 'Hudson' aircraft crashed into the sea whilst attempting to land. The aircraft crashed into the sea north of Redden Creek, approximately 366 metres offshore from Machans Beach. There were no survivors.
