Leading Seaman Ron Taylor
Australian War MemorialLeading Seaman Ron Taylor, of HMAS Yarra II who was killed in action on 4 March 1942 aboard HMAS Yarra II. On that day a convoy of Japanese warships attacked HMAS Yarra and her convoy south of Java. Ignoring the order to abandon ship Taylor manned a 4-inch mount and continued firing as the ship sank. He is commemorated at the Plymouth Naval Memorial, England.
