This replica Long Tan Cross was erected by Gatton RSL Sub Branch on the 50th anniversary of the battle. The cross honours two men from the Lockyer Valley who had lost their lives during Long Tan, Private Francis Brett Topp and Trooper Robert Young.

Not only does this monument represent Lockyer Valley's local soldiers, but it also represents members of D Coy, 6RAR,3TP and APC SQN who gave their lives during the battle of Long Tan on 18 August 1966 and all members of the Australian and New Zealand Armed Forces who gave their lives during the Vietnam War 1962-1972.

This is for Australians to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of nearly 60,000 men and woman who served in the Vietnam War.
