Warriors' Chapel, Presbyterian Church of St Andrew, Canberra

The Rev. John Walker, who lost three sons in France in the Great War, conceived the building of a Warriors' Chapel within the church construction. It was dedicated to all Presbyterians who served their country in time of war and especially remembered those who paid the supreme sacrifice.

The Resurrection Window features service men and women being raised by Christ to new life. The window was created by Norman St Clair Carter, a celebrated portrait-painter and stained-glass artist.

On the screen separating the chapel from the main body of the church is a memorial plaque in memory of Presbyterian ministers who gave their lives in the service of their country.

To the right of the communion table is the Walker Memorial Window. The image here mingles the poppies of Flanders Field in Belgium with Australian waratahs in memory of Walker's three sons.

The Warriors' Chapel was used for ANZAC Day dawn services prior to the opening of the Australian War Memorial using the outside pulpit. A service of holy communion is held in the Warriors' Chapel every ANZAC Day and it is used for mid-week and smaller services.
