The foundation stone for the Davenport Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hall was laid in 1926, and the hall opened in 1927.  The memorial tablet pictured was placed in 1928.  When the hall was demolished in 1983 the tablet was put on the brick monument erected in front of where the hall had stood.  Around about 2014 the area became a car-park for the Council Depot, and the monument was shifted to its present site, a short distance away, on the Pastoral Lawns.
