William, a farmer, was born at ‘Hope Farm’ Young in 1896 to Mr Willam and Mrs Henrietta Storey. He attended Burrangong Heights (Public School) Young. 

William enlisted at Liverpool on 18 January 1916, aged 21 years and 4 months. His next of kin was Mrs Henrietta Tattersall, Wombat Road, Young. He embarked Sydney 19 August 1916 on the RMS Mooltan, joining the Imperial Camel Cops in Abbassia on 15 November 1916. 

William was admitted to 14th Australian General Hospital Abbassia on 13 April 1918 with malaria. He was moved to the 70th General Hospital Cairo on 11 May 1918 and was said to be dangerously ill on 23 May 1918.

William died of enteric fever on 31 May 1918 in the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Choubra, Egypt. William is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Row O, Grave 181,Egypt.
