The street names Lucknow, Madras, Bombay and Rangoon pay homage to the horses that were sold by the 3rd Light Infantry to the British Army in India at the end of WW1. At the end of the war, an estimated 11,000 horses were sold, with only one returning home to Australia. The 3rd and 9th Light Horse regiments were both stationed at the Oaklands Camp, now the site of the Warradale Barracks.
