Appointed to the Grafton Volunteer Brigade 1st March 1912

679 Corporal Thomas George Roy Champion, Enlisted: 26th August 1914, “D” Company, 9th Battalion, Australian Infantry

Embarked at Brisbane on HMAT SS “Omrah” 24th September 1914. Embarked to join MEF on the “Ionfan” for the Gallipoli Campaign at Alexandria on the 2nd March 1915. After landing on Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915, at 0430hrs, Champion was posted as missing  and then listed as Killed in Action at Gaba Tepe on the 27th April 1915

Commemorated: Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey

Chief Officer W. H. Jones of the H T “Itonus” A25 declares that Champion was buried at sea from the “Itonus” on the 27th April 1915.
