The Eltham War Memorial consists of a building complex and gardens. The focus of this living memorial was to benefit the children of the shire, “a constant reminder to us of those who fought for us and the little ones for whom they fought and died.” It took the form of an Infant Welfare Centre (1952), a Pre-School (1956) and Children’s Library (1961) later refashioned as the War Memorial Hall, complemented by the Memorial Garden and Memorial Gates.
