This Memorial is dedicated to the personnel of the Royal Navy, Royal Australian Air Force, and the United States Army Air Corps who were based on this site during World War II and gave their lives in defence of Australia.

The Memorial was erected during Australia's Bicentennial Year with the support of the Bankstown Historic Air Far Committee, Bankstown City Council, and the Federal Airports Corporation and was dedicated on the 2ne October, 1988 in the presence of:

Colonel R D Stickell - United States Air Force Force

Ald I E Stromborg - Mayor, Bankstown City Council

K Robey M.B.E. - Chairman, Bankstown Historic Air Fair Committee

H L Knox - Airport Manager, Federal Airports Corp

A B Heiler - Town Clerk, Bankstown City Council
