Stanhope Mural
Australian War MemorialStanhope is a small country town in Victoria with a population of 5oo. The Montevideo Mural which is located in the centre of the town and is a project of the RSL sub Branch in collaboration with the Stanhope Development Committee.
The Mural was painted by artist Tim Bowtell and was opened in April 2023. Stanhope has a connection with the Montevideo Tragedy as three soldiers who were lost came from Stanhope.This tragedy remains the largest maritime disaster in Australian history.
