Rockleigh Roll of Honour - interim memorial

Story

The memorial was created by the local community and placed in the grounds of the Heritage Old School building just before Anzac Day 2022. The aim was to provide a publicly accessible memorial to those from the local area who served in WW1 and WW2 to complement to the less easily accessed handwritten honour boards in the Rockleigh Chapel. The memorial was made from local stone, with a barbed wire wreath and initially a laminated temporary plaque to provide a centre point for the first local Anzac Day dawn commemoration held at Rockleigh. Prior to Remembrance Day, the temporary plaque was replaced with an etched stainless-steel plaque. Wreaths were placed during a small commemoration held on Remembrance Day 2022. A number of descendants and family members of those who served still live and farm at Rockleigh.

It is planned to replace the interim memorial with a more appropriate structure as funds allow - the memorial is always accessible at the Old School grounds.
