The concrete water tank on the corner of View & Currie Streets was designed and erected in 1913 by the Reinforced Concrete & Monier Pipe Construction Coy, which had been founded by John Monash in 1905. Despite suffering several operational issues in the beginning, the tank served Charlton until it was decommissioned in 1982.
