The Deans Marsh Soldiers’ Memorial Park was dedicated to those who served in the WW1, and later after WW2, was rededicated to those who served in both world wars.

The plaque, partial obscured by the ‘Lest We Forget’ gate (now mounted on a section of wall of a later date), reads:

DEANS MARSH SOLDIERS MEMORIAL PARK

WORLD WARS

1914-18 - 1939-45

DEANS MARSH [from the Geelong Advertiser2 July 1924]

Arbor Day was celebrated at the local State School on Friday last, when the scholars planted 25 trees in the Soldiers' Memorial Park, and 25 on the road between the store and the station. After reassembling at the school and Arbor Day songs sung and an address given by Mr Munro. the head teacher, afternoon tea was handed around by the parents and a very happy time was spent by all.
