Toongabbie Cenotaph Official Opening

Story

Toongabbie cenotaph in front of the historic Mechanics Hall. There are wreaths at the base of the cenotaph from the official opening and people are gathered around the area. Four members of the RAAF base East Sale are forming the catafalque party at each corner of the cenotaph.

Standing proudly at the Toongabbie (Victoria) Village Green is a cenotaph commemorating those who served and made the supreme sacrifice in WW1 and WW2. The cenotaph also honours those who undertook peacekeeping services in Boer War, China, Korean War, Malayan Emergency, Vietnam War, Indonesia, Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The project started in mid-2022 with installation occurring in June 2024. An Official Dedication Service and Opening was held on 7th July 2024. 

The Toongabbie Cenotaph project was supported by the Victorian Government and the Victorian Veterans Council.
