Noreuil Park, South Albury
According to the information panels erected within this picturesque riverside park, the name 'Noreuil' was selected in homage to the men of the Albury Battery (13th Battery, 5th Field Artillery Brigade) who had been positioned near the village of Noreuil during the first battle of Bullecourt. Although the Germans broke through their lines, they managed to hold off the enemy until infantry arrived. The Battery went on to fight at Ypres, Amiens and Mont St Quentin, but their efforts in Noreuil were considered their most memorable.
