Avenue of Trees
The Avenue of Scarlet Oak trees honours the courage and self-sacrifice of 16 servicemen from Officer who died in action during the Great War (1914-1918) and the Second World War (1939-1945).
The trees were planted in 2025 to replace an avenue of trees that were removed in the 1970s for road widening. They were dedicated by a Chaplin in April 2026 in memory of the following fallen servicemen. An extra tree is dedicated to an unknown soldier in symbolic memory of all unknown fallen soldiers whose remains have not been found or identified.
A living and enduring tribute to their service and sacrifice. The avenue was formally commemorated at a service held prior to ANZAC Day 2026, attended by families, RSL, Military chaplain, bugler. MP, community members, and supporters.
The project was undertaken with a strong focus on historical respect, community involvement, and permanence as a place of remembrance. It is intended that the site serve both as a commemorative landscape and as an educational point of reflection for future generations.
This memorial now stands as a completed site of significance, and it is important that it be formally recognised within Australia’s national record of remembrance.
