Australia’s military involvement in the Vietnam War was the longest in duration of any war in Australia’s history before the conflict in Afghanistan. Australia deployed over 60,000 servicemen and women to the conflict in Vietnam between 1962 and 1975; Australians served between 1962 and 1973, and again for a brief period in 1975. During this operational commitment, 521 Australians lost their lives and are represented on this Honour Wall with replica dog tags.147 personnel from Port Pirie fought in Vietnam, including 45 National Servicemen.
